Welcome to the start of a new school year

3rd September 2015

Welcome back everyone!

We’ve had a great first day back; a wonderful start to the new school year. It was great to see so many smiley faces this morning. I hope you all enjoyed the summer with friends and family – even if the great British summer was not so great, in terms of sunshine!

I would formally like to welcome our 2 new members of teaching staff: Mr Coglan and Mr Tyrrell and a new member of our support staff team: Ms Weatherill. Along with new faces, we have some exciting new projects planned for this year - some of which we’ve already got cracking with! We’ve just had some new wall boards installed to replace the old SMART Whiteboards. To me, they look like huge ipads and seem to work in an equivalent way! The teachers are having fun exploring all the new teaching and learning possibilities these boards give us.

Six weeks is a long time so here are few reminders regarding our school routines and systems.

  • School start time is 8:55 am although classroom doors open at 8:45 am.
  • School finish time is 3:15 pm for Reception and KS1 (YEARS 1& 2)
  • School finish time is 3:20 pm for KS2 (YEARS 3 -6)
  • Children in EYFS and KS1 must be collected by an adult. The teacher will hand over your child. We will not dismiss your child otherwise.
  • Lower KS2 (years 3 & 4): Your child should be collect by adult. Teachers will dismiss the children from the classroom. Parents can collect their child from the area outside the classroom. If parents/collectors are late, the child is expected to come back into the classroom to wait for their parent/collector to arrive.
  • Upper KS2: No specific collection policy for these older children. Parents determine if their child requires collection or if their child is able to make their own way home.

Many thanks

 Miss A. Owen
