Harry Potter - Year 5

In year five we have been studying Harry Potter and the Philosophers Stone by J.K. Rowling.

During this time we have produced a wide variety of written work ranging from character description and settings through to instructions and explanations. Our writing has been inspired by events and characters studied in this wonderful fantasy adventure.

As part of our English work the children had to think about their own character traits and, if selected to attend Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, which house they would be sorted into.

Alongside this we have looked at various art techniques – line, pastel and shading- to create work on the Harry Potter theme.  Some of the work focussed on curved line and colour with inspiration taken from Vincent Van Gogh’s Starry Night.
